For the umpteenth time I must express my love for the recent collection from Fashion Fair created by creative director Sam Fine. Sam Fine for Fashion Fair is a line that caters to all ethnicities and skin tones while ensuring that it will look flawless on the rainbow of black women that exist.

Highly pigmented & moisture filled lipsticks and shadows that will stay on for days. Quality and longevity certainly were two ingredients mixed into this pot of beautifulproducts. Shop with Purpose: Rwanda Path to Peace

I was recently asked to review a beautiful woven basket from Macy’s and of course if you know Miss Merli in NYC you know we love everything beautiful and sharing that with you. More than anything else though what really sealed the deal was the fact that these baskets are handmade and help the country of Rwanda in a huge way financially, while elevating the status of women there. Call me a feminist but anything to give women more respect and power, count me in.

Rwanda Path to Peace commissioned by Macy’s this initiative has taken the talents of Rwandan women and has created income to help rebuild the ravaged country and to support their families.

These women have seen their neighbors and their families destroyed by genocide and ethnic cleansing, leaving many of them broken and hopeless, lost in a country where women are considered second-rate citizens because of their gender. Although the genocide has ended the reminisce of the tragedy continues to plague the country today. One of many events that will be taking place next week to start off New York Fashion Week, designer B. Michael, is known for his sophisticated timeless designs and clean aesthetic. One of the last designers to dress the late Whitney Houston for the movie “Sparkle”, her designs are sought after by celebrities and socialites alike. Join him as he debuts his ready to wear collection while you enjoy music, champagne and refreshments throughout the event.
